The First Week

This is the week I took least pictures, the picture-madness hadn't set in yet, and there were a lot of (indoor) company visits during the days.

Sibelius monument; 4/8 The very first picture was taken at the Sibelius monument during the Helsinki sightseeing tour (on Monday). Remember the poor Japanese girl who we asked to take a picture with several cameras, and then in between every picture some more people put their camera on the pile too, so that it became a 'never ending shoot' !

Jani explaining; 4/8 Jani is explaining, and my-my, everybody still listens ;-) Daniela is doing something to her hair that I saw her do many-many times afterwards... ;-)

Carrying food; 4/8 Later on the sightseeing tour, we had to carry our picnic food... but because the food was too heavy for the cardboard box it was in, we divided it, so that everyone was carrying one bread, or a salami, etc... I still remember remarking that it had a certain giggle factor.

picnic group; 4/8 And then we finally found our spot to picnic... Paolo is really starving by now, so he's taking a big bite out of the pasta salad.

Water Park; 5/8 The next day, we had an excursion to Cisco, with lunch... It was a fairly long visit. Afterwards, we went to the Serena Water Park. Great fun, but hardly any pictures, just this one, with Antonio and Mira posing in front of the main building.

Fazer; 6/8 Wednesday, we went to HPY, Helsinki Phone Company. In the afternoon, we went to the Fazer Candy factory, where we saw some PR-video and (very funny) TV-commercials. Then we got to see the factory itself, where they make chocolates. We could taste as much as we could eat, and then some, and when we left, we each got an extra bag of sweets as a gift! Paolo was also able to use his charms on the pr-lady of the company, and got a nice commercial poster (which is now hanging in my room ;-) because it was too big for him to take on the airplane, I guess)

Group with best t-shirts; 6/8 This is just a nice group picture of some of us, on the day of the HPY visit. Most of us were wearing the official Helsinki SC97 t-shirt (designed by Mira) that day, to please HPY, which was the sponsor of the course. A little after this, we played the ultimate frizbee-game, and in the evening we ate pizza (with mushrooms and ? or with tuna and pineapple) and played music (great performances by several people, both on guitar (Conchi, Xavier, Arto, Joao, Jan) and piano (Sam... (Finnish), Guido). I hope I didn't miss anyone, my memory is getting a little faint on the when and who questions;-) ) and games.

Swimming in Otaniemi; 7/8 Somewhere on Thursday, some people found time to swim (in Otaniemi)... I didn't join in, because I was having trouble with my knee, which I had hurt by jumping into the sea too violently only a day before... That's how I had the opportunity to take this picture!

amusement park;
8/8 Then it was Friday... 'working', well at least surfing the internet, looking for info on our selected topic for the presentation. I was in a group with Cio and Chiara, and we were looking for money, well e-money, to be exact... In the evening we went to the amusement park, and later on threw ourselves in the nightlife of Helsinki. In the amusement park, we had great fun trying out all the rides, but the best were the little canoes at the end... Who got wet again? Conchi? Antonio?
